The main problems facing the education system are the following: the attendance in rural areas, major differences in the quality of education in schools, absenteeism, and early dropout among children from disadvantaged communities. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the problem of poverty in Romania, the level of school performance and to identify the existence of mutual determinations of the two subjects in the 8 regions of Romania, school performance being treated from the perspective of the baccalaureate exam passing rate and the school dropout rate, the research method being on qualitative data.
