Code-compliant accelerograms adopted for time-history dynamic analyses are required to be compatible with the elastic design spectrum defining the seismic action. The problem then arises to generate spectrum-compatible accelerograms while maintaining realistic non-stationary characteristics, which in turn may play an important role in the non-linear seismic response.
