BACKGROUND: Cryopreservation of follicles in ovarian cortical tissue has been suggested as a method for preserving fertility for young women who need to undergo cytotoxic therapy. Varying compositions of cryoprotectant solutions have been used to prevent tissue damage during cryopreservation and thawing.
