The relevance of the chosen topic is due to the formation of market relations, the development of the number of entities engaged in various activities and often insufficiently competent. This leads to an increase in the number of economic and criminal cases related to non-compliance with the necessary rules, with the falsification of products, which is becoming more common every year. A significant number of expert commodity research is conducted on civil lawsuits for consumer protection, as well as when circumstances require a study of the consumer properties of goods and raw materials. The development of new methods of product identification leads to the fact that for the successful consideration and resolution of an increasing number of cases in court it is necessary to apply special knowledge in the field of commodity science, which contributes to the adoption of lawful and reasonable court decisions. The use of such knowledge is used through the appointment of commodity expertise, designed to its special methods, techniques and means to help establish the circumstances relevant to the case. In such cases the conclusion of commodity examination, definition of quality of the goods by an organoleptic, expert, measuring method and conformity to its current norms is required. At carrying out commodity examination it is necessary to establish various properties, characteristics of objects of research, for establishment of cost of a product. When determining the value of a particular product, it is necessary to take into account whether it is characterized by the level of supply and demand, this product on the market in a particular period of time and in a particular region, as well as analyze price information from reliable legitimate sources. There are cases when there is a need for commodity examination of documents without an actual inspection of the object of study. The peculiarity of such a commodity examination is that the expert examines not the object itself, but only the information about it contained in the documents submitted for examination. This information is necessary for the expert to establish the commodity affiliation of the object of study, its condition on a specific date for further comparative analysis.
