Kinetics and Mechanism of the Reaction Between Persnlphate and Silver Ion

A detailed study d this reaction-was found to be very similar to the sliver Cetdred persuiphate oxidation of Mn (11), TV), Vo+ 1. and Cc (III). The rate was found to be of the order of 0.3-0.61/n2n1froin as found in the case of Mn (II) or 71 (I). The rate determining step in all these reactions is the same. The rate expression is given by -(StOs kiksCS:(5s) (A') dt + ha(Axe) or kik, (SON—) (Ae) if 1r4,13(Ag4)- Energy and entropy of aaivatioo have nearly equal vaults Ica in all thcsc oxidations.
