In this paper we present a compared analysis of related aspects on van Hiele's theory and SOLO Taxonomy. We analyze the possibility of identifying learning cycles into van Hiele's levels of reasoning. To that, we describe the assessment instrument, the approach we use to assign levels of reasoning and answer SOLO levels and the compared analysis with both assignments. The results show us how it is possible to identify learning cycles in some van Hiele levels and the utility of the assessment
