An effective method for the synthesis of 1-substituted 1H-tetrazoles by oxidative desulphurization of 1-substituted 1H-tetrazole-5-thiols with hydrogen peroxide in acetonitrile in the presence of a catalytic amount of trifluoroacetic acid is proposed. The main advantages of the proposed method are high yields of target products, mild conditions and short reaction time.
