Photochemical oxidation of methylene blue (MB) was investigated in presence of Fe 2+ and peroxydisulphate ions at normal temperature and pressure. The effect of operating variables like the concentration of ferrous ions, concentration of methylene blue, pH, and

The photochemical oxidation of dye follows pseudo first order kinetics. The results showed that the methylene blue was completely oxidized and degraded into CO 2 and H 2 O. A suitable tentative mechanism for photochemical oxidation of methylene blue has been proposed.
