Exercise and movement offers can vary in Physical Education among (Austrian) secondary schools. This thesis deals with different exercise offers which are part of the Physical Education program/curriculum as well as extra-curricular activities. On the one hand, contents and functions of the Physical Education Curriculum will be addressed. On the other hand, activity and movement projects and initiatives will be introduced which could help to improve the amount of physical activity in school
more » ... ons. Additionally, the terms quality and quantity are considerably important regarding their much debated role in school and teaching. Questions such as "How can the students' physical capability be estimated and judged?", "How much do students really move or how active are they during a lesson?" or "How can the threating consequences of too little physical activity be prevented?" are highly discussed among scholars nowadays. Thus, this thesis will cover all these aspects and will put emphasis on the discourse of quality and quantity of exercise and movement offers in Physical Education in schools. The topic will be addressed hermeneutically by comparing contemporary literature, texts, summaries and explanations.
