In our previous work, we revealed that the liquid-crystalline phthalocyanine-fullerene dyads have 1D nano array structure very suitable to solar cells, and that these dyads showed helical structure of fullerenes along with columns of phthalocyanine disks. In this work, we have successfully prepared a novel type of donor-accepter dyads,PcCu-[(Cn)3PDI]4, consisting of a Pc introduced four perylenebisimide moieties, and found that these dyads showed very interesting columnar liquid-crystalline property.
