Multidrug infusion control using an indirect adaptive pole placement algorithm

This paper presents the application of a multivariable, indirect-adaptive pole placement controller to a physiological system. Although highly nonlinear, the system will be modelled by a difference equation, which is initially identified off-line. As the system evolves the model is updated via on-line recursive identification and the controller is correspondingly updated. An example is given, which illustrates the ability of the controller to adapt in response to changing system dynamics.
