EVALUATION OF INSECTICIDES FOR CONTROL OF TURNIP APHID ON TURNIP, 2000

Paul McLeod
2001 Arthropod Management Tests
Turnip aphid: Lipaphis erysimi (Kaltenbach) Turnip 'Purple Top', was planted 3 km west of Webbers Falls, OK, on 10 Apr. Plots consisted of a single row 6 ft wide and 50 ft long. Experimental design was an RCB with four replications. Treatments were applied 2 May with a CO 2 pressurized backpack sprayer equipped with 3 Tee Jet 80015 nozzles calibrated to deliver 23 gpa at 40 psi. All treatments included Thoroughbred surfactant at 0.25%. Insecticide effectiveness was assessed by rating the number

The rating for untreated plants 3 DAT was 4.8. All treatments except Spinosad significantly reduced the aphid rating scale when compared with the check. Both Warrior applications, Provado, and Actara provided the lowest aphid ratings.
