Two experiments investigated factors influencing the integration of sentences . A pri皿 irlg technique using sentence recognition was employed . The experimentat procedure involved presenting four tQ −1 ) e − re 皿 e 皿 bered sentences to the subjects and then test隻 ng two sentences successively for recognition . In the experiment 1, positive priming effect was observed when two test sentences shared same subiect noun ( sa エ 11e subject condition ) , whereas negative pri皿 ing effect was obtained

Results of experi 皿 ent 2 showed no signi 丘cant priming effect in tlle same object conditiQn , These results suggest that two sentences are integrated when they share sa 皿 e subject noun . A tentative model based on repetition rule and spreadlng activation exp ! anation was briefly discussed . Key words : integration of se エ 1tences , repetition rule , priming effect , sprea 〔 ling activation .
