Formation of Triradical Trications from Hexaquaternary Salts Derived from 4,4'-Bipyridine
1986
Zeitschrift für Naturforschung. B, A journal of chemical sciences
The syntheses of the hexaquaternary salts 1,1'-bis-[2-(1′-methyl-[4,4'-bipyridinium]-1-yl)-ethyl]-4,4'-bipyridinium hexaperchlorate and 1,1'-bis-[3-(1'-methyl-[4,4'-bipyridinium]-1-yl)-propyl]-4,4'-bipyridinium hexaperchlorate are reported. The salts are reduced in aqueous solution to triradical trications at a potential (E0) of -0.24 V.
