For this, the contributions of Knight and Cottrell (2015) are taken from the types of processes of empowerment: power over, power to, power with and power within, as well as the contributions of Cañada and Gascon (2007), for the analysis of the rural tourism and environmental conservation. It is concluded that rural tourism is perceived as an opportunity for development, both in the personal and social spheres, especially in women who participate in projects of this nature and empower themselves, which allows to delineate a new perspective of analysis where women are able of maintaining harmony between natural resources and economic activities, leading to sustainable local development.
