【摘要 Abstract】 臺灣近代圖書館事業的發展,自 1901 年「私立臺灣文庫」創立起,已有 106 年的歷史,本研究將臺 灣圖書館事業的發展過程分為日據時期和光復時期兩階段,陳述各階段主要發展歷史。其重要成就可歸 納為:圖書館法制基礎的奠定、國家圖書館功能的展現、專業組織的成立、美援計劃的協助、圖書資訊 學教育的興起、文化建設計畫的達成,以及自動化與合作化的發展等項,均屬圖書館界長期以來對社會 的具體貢獻。 The modern librarianship in Taiwan has been developed over one hundred and six years since the foundation of the "Private Taiwan Library" in l901. ... n account of its centenarian history of the main developments including the following achievements: the fundamental stipulations of the library system, the demonstration of the functions of the national library, the activation of the professional library organizations, the assistance from the American financial projects, the initiation and outgrowth of the library and information science education, the fulfillment of the cultural development projects of the central government and the development of the library automation and cooperation operations.
