The purpose of this study is to evaluate the primary school first grade Life Studies Teachers' Supplementary Book and Student Books prepared by Ministry of National Education (MoNE) according to some criteria. Experts' opinions from different areas in Faculty of Educational Sciences were taken by a group of 21 people. The research data was analyzed by document analysis. more » ... t appropriate for the target group's developmental level and there were some negative hidden messages. Also, it was found that some activities and visuals were not appropriate in terms of learning and teaching theories. These results should be taken into consideration by MoNE. meetings, experts expressed their opinions about activities' content, instructions, visuals and designs of books. These opinions were analyzed by descriptive analysis. Results: The findings of the study were grouped under three themes: opinions about the activities, opinions about the visuals and opinions about the hidden messages in activities and visuals. Furthermore, opinions about the activities grouped under four sub-themes: instructions used in activities, appropriateness of activities according to language and expression rules, appropriateness of the content scientifically, appropriateness of activities according to learning and teaching theories. Opinions about the visuals were grouped under four sub-themes: appropriateness of visuals in terms of students' developmental level, design principles, students' artistic development and consistency of visuals with real life. It is concluded that the content was not appropriate for target groups' developmental level and there were some scientific misconceptions; visuals were not appropriate for students' artistic development and in terms of design principles; there were some hidden messages that affect students negatively.
