This thesis is devoted to comparison of mathematics teaching in Austria and Turkey. To start with the introduction: the Turkish education system and the Austrian school system are specified and include the objectives of these education systems, which also demonstrate the kinds of schools. Furthermore, socio economic conditions and the level of the PISA study are compared in the chapter "characteristic features of the Turkish and Austrian education system". more » ... of mathematics teaching" reveals, an explicit comparison of mathematics teaching is carried out in this work by using the two current curricula. The General provisions and the didactic principles are represented in both curricula and the common theses of the two systems are additionally discussed with practical examples. Because the author attended the schools until university in Turkey, she also incorporated her experiences in the thesis. In this regard there are some investigations undertaken and conducted interviews with two teachers in Turkey on the subject of "Application of the Turkish curriculum in the schools".
