In this paper, a mathematical model for a semi-active damper, in which a pressure regulating mechanism similar to a balanced piston type relief valve is built-in, is derived. The Numerical simulation results of the damping force characteristics are in good agreement with the experimental ones. It implies that the mathematical model is available.
