Project method Following consultation with a range of stakeholders about a lack of confidence around the principles and assessment requirements of the act, the project team designed a small prompt card. These are easy clean and plastic coated thus suitable for infection control protocols in hospitals. The prompt cards are also ID badge dimensions for easier carriage in a lanyard or pocket. This ensures that workers do not need to search for memos, leaflets or other reminders, and they are

They prompt a very simple reminder of the Mental Capacity Assessment and principles of the act. They are an easy way of being able to reach several thousands of front line workers, and all cards carry the SCIE logo for further learning and signposting. Project results/evaluation To date 20,000 prompt cards have been ordered and the majority have already been distributed locally to interested parties. They are always well received by those who request them and extra cards are frequently requested. A pdf version has been made freely available for organisations outside Birmingham so that they can be reprinted as required.
