Viral Hepatitis-Review of the Clinicopathological

The clinicopathological features of viral hapatitis were reviewed based on the observation of the autospy cases in the Department of Pathology, Tokyo Medical and Dental University. The autopsy cases consisted of 24 cases of acute hepatitis, 16 cases of chronic hepatitis, 40 cases of cirrhosis of the liver, 9 cases of liver cell carcinoma (5 cases with concurrent cirrhosis of the liver) and 4 cases of drug-induced hepatic injuries. more » ... er the incidence of persons with elevated tites of HB antigen in the four dental school hospitals in Japan were reported. Data from the general practioners were also presented. According to these reports, dentists and oral hygienists had a higher incidence of viral hepatitis than that in the general population. The role of the saliva in the transmission of the virus was discussed.
