As the science of paleontology enters a new phase in data management, interest in electronic databases burgeons. The proper design and management of a complex database necessitates the preparation of a logical data model. PaleoBank, a database that is an extension of the long-standing Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology, is also intended as a research tool for paleontologists who are not involved in the Treatise project.
