We estimated stress drop and 丘nax of subduc 口on earthquakes using strong motion records obselved at deep boreholes in Iwaki and Tomioka in order to evaluate high− f士equency strong motions . τhe estimated ax has no correl飢 ion with seismic moment . On the other hand , we fbund that the stress drop is proportional to fi 刀 ax3 . Although the level of stress drop depends on source regions , this relation is appricabie to each source region .
