OPR volume 1 issue 2 Cover and Back matter

1989 Cambridge Opera Journal
This series of guides to individual operas is written for the serious opera-goer or record collector as well as the student or scholar. The guiding principle of the series is the contemporary view that opera is not a hybrid compound of literary and musical elements, but that it is musical drama. Each volume has chapters which deal in logical sequence with the main aspects of the work: its genesis, its structure, its performance history, its reception.
