The main issue to solve for ATM multicast forwarding is the cellinterleaving problem using AAL5. In strategies using a multiplexing ID, there are two main options: to assign an ID per source or per PDU. This paper argues for the convenience of using PDU ID because it allows the share of IDs between all the senders, thus reducing the ID consumption and management complexity.
