In this paper the efficiency and the noise measure of the IMPATT diode are important criterion. The efficiency and the noise measure vary with the semiconductor material used to design the IMPATT diode. The Efficiency and the noise measure plays an important role in the choice of material that should be used for a given applications. The efficiency and noise figure of IMPATT diode for Si, GaAs, SiC, InP, GaN are measured and compared.
