Raised antibody titers to coxsackie virus in a case of SLE The number of reported cases of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in children are increasing year by year and survival period is getting much longer than that of several years ago. Recently, we experienced a case of 13 year-old male with SLE and myocarditis, which showed raised coxsackie viruses antibody titers (by CF method). Microscopically, diffuse myocardial edema with focal lymphocytic infiltration was observed, however, no

There is a report of SLE or MCTD in which raised antibody titers were observed. The antibody for multiple virus elevated in SLE are probably result from polyclonal hyperimmunoglobulinemia and do not implicate these viruses aetiologically. It is of importance to pay all caution to establish a diagnosis of viral infection in SLE.
