The biggest threat to the sustainable supply of water in South Africa is not the lack of water storage facilities, but the contamination of available water resources through pollution. The development of new technologies that address problems with anthropogenic origins will therefore play a major role in securing a sustainable future and addressing problems regarding water supply, such as water quality and security.
