This research is motivated by the progress of facilities and infrastructure at SMP Negeri 9 Payakumbuh. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques in research are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. (3) The role of the principal in maintaining facilities and infrastructure at SMP Negeri 9 Payakumbuh is good enough, because the principal provides motivation, advice and direction in managing facilities and infrastructure. (4) The role of the principal in the elimination of facilities and infrastructure at SMP Negeri 9 Payakumbuh, namely by submitting a proposal for the removal to the education office.
