Synthetic Biology Imaginations for the Biscayne Bay, Florida
2021
Blucher Design Proceedings
unpublished
This project attempts to reimagine Miami and coastal communities with the advent of climate change and the rise of biotechnology. We develop a speculative vision/plan for the Biscayne Bay estuary that envisions infrastructures that grow by themselves using synthetic biology. In this paper, we elaborate on how Synthetic Biology has evolved to become the fastest growing technology in human history, its potential in the development of large-scale infrastructures, and its impact on the future imaginations of Architecture.
