The medical and health field is one of the areas where applied empirical and experimental studies in behavioral economics have been actively conducted. Behavioral economics has been expected to explain why people cannot implement medically recommended preventive measures and treatments on their own and why people sometimes actively select medically un-recommended choices. Currently, the effectiveness of nudges is being tested on various topics, and their implementation in society is underway. On the other hand, academically, behavioral economics and nudge have reached a crossroads. This paper focuses particulary on nudges, summarizes the current issues on nudges in the medical and health field, and overviews the directions of their future research and practical applications.
