Providing an introduction to the landscape of standards, this report focuses on the wealth of content standards available in the life and biomedical sciences, introducing their life cycle and the ecosystem of stakeholders and initiatives. The report also highlights a number of technical, social and financial pain points, which must be addressed if we are to realize a visionof integral content standards that seamlessly become part of the research and data management enterprise of the future.
