Microbial studies of biosurfactant producing bacteria from crude oil contaminated soil

Soils contaminated with crude oil collected from three sites in Delta State were analyzed using serial dilution and pour plate methods. The physicochemical characteristics of the soil were determined using standard methods. The mean heterotrophic bacteria count and the mean hydrocarbon utilizing bacteria count were also determined. Blood haemolysis, foaming activity, oil spreading techniques and emulsification assay was used to screen the microorganisms for biosurfactant production. The
