Purpose] To clarify the differences in gait between leather shoes and sneakers in terms of kinematics and kinetics. [Subjects and Methods] Ten healthy male subjects participated in this study. [Results] In gait with leather shoes, the maximum value of the ankle dorsiflexion moment and the maximum value of the ankle negative joint power increased in the early stance phase, compared to sneakers. [Conclusion] It was found that, compared to sneakers, gait in leather shoes showed an increase in the eccentric contraction of the ankle dorsiflexion muscles in the early stance phase.
