A 43-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with a complaint of cough provoked by swallowing. Barium esophagogram revealed a fistula between the middle portion of the esophagus and the right lower lobe broncus. On right thoracotomy, the fistula was resected. Histologically the fistula was composed of esophageal mucosa and proper muscle, and there was no evidence of inflammation, granulomatous change or cancer. On the basis of these findings, we regarded this case as congenital esophago-bronchial fistula in adult.
