In the large space structures ( LSS ' s > , the rigid body mQtion acts a dominant role . Up to now , the linear analysis of LSS has been done only by the mode superposition method 〔 MSM ) since it ' s easy to evaluate elastic d上 formations . In this paper, the governing equation for the elastic de− formation is pr posed and the equivalence with MSM is explained , By applying this equation , 1. he elastic diformation can be properly evaluated using the frequency domain and time dc〕main methods .
