Logistics as a factor in shaping the competitiveness of enterprises has already been discussed in numerous publications. Still, however, being a problem with very broad substantive and methodological horizons, according to the authors, it allows for the analysis and formulation of theses that have not yet been scientifically explained. The theoretical foundations of logistics in its dimension of the competitiveness factor can be traced at various levels of delimitation of economic sciences:
more » ... o, meso or global. The starting point for such focused considerations is the current of classical competition theory. The theory of imperfect competition should be the basis for consideration in this direction. The methodological assumptions of the new industrial economy (industry economics) are extremely interesting and inspiring in the field of logistics research as a competitive factor. The purpose of this article is to present selected trends in economic research in the development of logistics theory and to systematize the theory underlying the considerations regarding the competitiveness of logistics.
