were 49 deaths from consumption, lung diseases 22, diarrhceal diseases 25, diphtheria and croup 12, whooping-cough 12, ty-phoid fever five, erysipelas two, puerperal fever two. The deathrates were, at Geneva 35.7 ; Zurich 11.8 ; Basle 13.9 ; Berne 33.3.
