Professor Hatsujiro Hashimoto, the 9 th president of the IFSEM and a distinguished scientist in the Microscopy Society of America, passed away on April 15 th , 2017 at the age of 95. I would like to express my heartfelt sorrow on the death of this great scientist and educator.
