Haemolytic uraemic syndrome (HUS) is a disorder of unknown aetiology, which occurs more frequently in children. It starts acutely and leads to renal failure, acute microangiopathic haemolytic anaemia, frequently associated with thrombocytopenia, hemorrhagic and neurological symptoms. The present paper analyzes the HUS cases hospitalized during 1972-2003 in the paediatric clinics Alfred Rusescu, Fundeni and Grigore Alexandrescu.
