Room-temperature molten salts composed of aluminum chloride (AICI3) and l-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (EMIC) are well suited to studying the electrodeposition of aluminum (A l) and as a codeposit with other metals (A l-M x ).1 We have employed an Electrochemical Quartz Crystal Microbalance (EQCM) to investigate, in situ, the deposition and stripping behavior of A l and A l-M x in acidic A lG hrE M IC molten salts.
