In this paper we describe the impact of 3D video technology on immersive telepresence applications in the context of architecture. This technology enables new ways of collaborating and communicating between distant locations. The photorealistic appearance of a 3D user representation and other objects allows for natural and close co-operation in immersive spaces. We conclude with experiences and results derived from inserting and interacting with 3D representations of users in specific Virtual Reality scenarios.
