Abstract Western culture is strongly marked by the influence of Platonic postulate about the duality of reality. The unfolding of the Hegelian absolute knowledge seem to have provided a new level of values that dissolve this postulate-what I call the culture of immanence. In this context the epistemological endeavor is characterized by an extreme confidence in its own effectiveness. I understand this epistemological security has led philosophy to an impasse: or it becomes part of the scientific enterprise or it resets as an activity that seeks adventure and no longer the truth.
