Jahrhundert The Origins of Commercial Jurisdiction in Vienna in the 18 th Century To promote international trade and in order to guarantee legal security for the local traders, the Austrian Emperor introduced a separate court for commerce-related cases in Vienna in 1717. This article explores the reasons for this act as well as the further developments up to the end of the 18t h century.
