Identification of high pedestrian crash zones to enhance pedestrian safety is important to develop and implement strategies to enhance safety. Unlike analysis of motor vehicle related crashes limited research has been done on identifying high pedestrian crash zones. Studies in recent years have focused on the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in safety analysis as they have immense potential to evaluate crash characteristics.
