Excerpt from the report Introduction: In recent years much emphasis has been given to 2 problems of the less developed nations of the world: The chronic shortage of their foreign exchange reserves and the insufficiency of their diets. Tropical agricultural product exports are a major source of foreign exchange earnings in most of the less developed nations. Agricultural products from the temperate zone might be imported to provide the people of the less developed nations with a sufficient diet.
