Visually impaired persons have always suffered various structural obstacles and difficulties largely due to deeply ingrained prejudices and customs, low level of education and lack of awareness and opportunities. They were deprived of a normal social life and were considered as worthless by family and society. The present study attempts to understand and analyze the nature of changes in the life of visually challenged children studying in National Institute of Visually Handicapped (NIVH), Dehradun. Based on a factual study of 66 respondents, the study concludes that condition of visually challenged children has changed positively as a result of changing social perception and social support available in the form of various opportunities and facilities for their inclusive growth and upliftment.
