This paper reports the studies on the effect of flux on 585 or 611nm peak of Eu doped Sr 2 CeO 4 phosphor prepared by standard solid state reaction method. The obtained phosphors were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), photoluminescence (PL) and The Commission International de l'Eclairage coordinates (CIE). XRD reveals that except Sr 2 CeO 4 , no other phase exists in the XRD spectra. SEM image is exhibits the grains like morphology with different

The emission spectra of Sr 2 CeO 4 phosphor doped with Eu(0.5%) with citric acid(C 6 H 8 O 7) as flux shows peaks at 467, 491, 512, 537,557, 585, 590, 601, 611 and 616nm under 254 & 270nm excitation. The CIE coordinates were calculated by the Spectrophotometric method using the spectral energy distribution of undoped Sr 2 CeO 4 and Eu doped Sr 2 CeO 4 [(A) x = 0.158 and y = 0.192, (B) x = 0.313 and y = 0.325, (C) are x=0.469 and y=0.295].
