The nitrogenous substances are rapidly transferred to ripening pine seeds during the embryo development period. In this period the condensation of alkali-soluble protein (glutelin) proceeds with the dehydration of seeds. After the completion of the development of seeds, the synthesis of protein becomes maximum and the accumulation of protein in this period occurs corresponding to the decrease of insoluble nitrogenous compounds.
