Today, one can observe intense criticism of the contemporary Christian Church. The critical attitude towards the Church undergoes rapid transformations. According to many observers, the interest in Christianity has been reduced to that of voicing criticism against the Church. In his text "Jesus, yes; the Church, no" the protestant theologian and philosopher of religion Jürgen Moltmann advances a thesis that, indeed, the Church in its present state deserves criticism-that is supposed to
more » ... upposed to constitute a beginning of its revival. This criticism of the Church can be divided into external and internal criticism. The former concerns the fact that the Church has allied itself-its public institutions, wealth, religious symbols, and morality-with the ruling social systems, that have brought anxiety, injustice and oppression to people. The latter sees the Church more from the angle of its presence in society. It is associated with the expectation that the Church will be modern and adjusted to the contemporary world. The social crisis of today's Church is, actually, a spiritual crisis, a crisis of Christian identity.
